Moving Efficiently and Affordably
There's no dodging the fact that moving all of your belongings is a gigantic hassle, but we've devised a list of our favorite tips that we think will save you lots of time and money when it's time to move.
- Pack your boxes real snug, filling as much of the empty space as you can; It will prevent breakage and it may allow you to rent a small moving truck than you expected.
- Avoid moving during traffic hours to save time and gas.
- Keep a master list of where items were packed and stored.
- Label the boxes with a list of specific items that are inside. Sorting through 10 boxes labeled "office stuff" won't be very fun when you need your stapler.
- Color coordinate. Place colored stickers on your boxes to identify which room of your new home the items belong in.
- Pack as much as you can before moving day. If you're planning a mid-summer move, you shouldn't have a problem getting that winter wardrobe packed early and efficiently.
- Keep cleaning supplies consolidated and handy - you may need them at a moments notice.
